Journal #11: I went to a cat cafe today!
I went to a cat cafe1 today with my little sister. I've never been to one before so I was super excited!
There was more emphasis on the "cat" part than "cafe". It was a tiny little building. You walk in to a small front room that has a coffee counter, a few tables/chairs, and a small gift shop display on the wall. There's a large window that looks into the cat room, which is separated by two doors.
We got in, got drinks, and then went into the cat room. They had loads of toys, cat trees, hide-y holes, and thrifted furniture for people to sit which were all scratched up on the arms and legs.
The cats were all very sweet, ranging from little kittens to grumpy old men. The best part is they're all adoptable.
I couldn't get the best pictures as it was quite busy—I didn't realize it was President's Day until it dawned at me that was why my sister, who is a teacher, had the day off.
I definitely want to go back sometime. I will for sure bring my wife when she visits the US again in May. I also might bring my niece one day; she's always wanted a cat, but my older sister and nephew are allergic, so she never got to have one at home.
Here are the photos I got:
Here are two pictures my sister took of me with the roughed-up kitty:
They had a lot of cute stuff for sale in the front room. My sister got two tea/coffee spoons that hang over your mug. I'll probably get them the next time I visit. I'm doing a no-buy month this month, but I did let myself purchase two little stickers, one for me and my wife.
The calico sticker is for my wife, as it resembles her kitty Mabel, who loves boxes; the other one is close enough to my two orange babies Marley and Charlie (though they don't contort themselves into drinking glasses).
Here are some pics for comparison's sake:
I didn't have time to look through them too much, so I'll buy another couple for Marley and Charlie sometime. They also sold a lot of cute pins that I want to look through.
Overall I had a really nice time. My little sister and I don't often get together so it's always nice when we make time to see each other. This banger of a song came on while we drove up and took me right back to 2007. It's always a trip to stumble across spontaneous nostalgic touchpoints as an adult.
Speaking of music, II MOST WANTED came on during the drive home. I didn't realize Miley2 had featured on Cowboy Carter. The song was beautiful and gave me all the feelings. I've learned to lean on music and art more than ever to get through these times, so it all hits extra hard right now.
I've been a stuck in a depressive episode for the better part of a week. Today was a good reminder that the best antidote is getting out into the world and talking to people, even if it's just chitchat over cats and chai tea.
Take care. <3
